MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide

MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide is a high-strength, non-selective Group M herbicide containing 700 g/kg glyphosate as the mono-ammonium salt, delivering 55% more active ingredient than standard 450 g/L liquid glyphosate products.

It provides broad-spectrum control of annual and perennial weeds across agricultural, pasture, domestic, and tree and vine crop situations throughout Australia. The ammonium salt drives faster plant uptake and quicker brown-out than standard liquid formulations, while dissolving fully to a clear, residue-free tank solution that reduces blockage risk. No extra surfactant is required in most use situations, and the granular pack format eliminates empty drum disposal.

MacPherson's Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide GLYPHOSATE-700-MACPHERSONS Ronic

Description

MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide is a non-selective Group M herbicide containing 700 g/kg glyphosate as the mono-ammonium salt. It controls a wide range of annual and perennial weeds across agricultural, pasture, domestic, tree and vine crop situations throughout Australia. Manufactured by RONIC International Pty Ltd, this high-strength soluble granule delivers 55% more active ingredient than standard 450 g/L liquid glyphosate products.

The ammonium salt formulation drives faster plant penetration and quicker brown-out than standard liquid glyphosate products. It dissolves fully to a clear tank solution with no residue, cutting the risk of blockage. The product binds tightly in soil with no leaching, making it safe to apply over tree and vine root zones.

What weeds does MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 control?

It controls emerged annual and perennial weeds only. It does not provide residual weed control.

Weed Type Examples Visible Effect
Annual grasses Ryegrass, barley grass, wild oats, brome grass 3-7 days
Annual broadleaves Capeweed, Paterson’s curse, sowthistle, thistles 3-7 days
Perennial grasses Couch, kikuyu, paspalum, nutgrass 2-3 weeks
Woody weeds Blackberry, lantana, gorse, boxthorn 2-3 weeks+

How does MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 compare to liquid products?

  • Twice the strength of Gly 360 liquids (e.g. RoundUp Biactive)
  • 1.5 times the strength of Gly 450 liquids (e.g. RoundUp CT)
  • 1.3 times the strength of Gly 540 liquids (e.g. PowerMax)

Where can MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 be used?

  • Domestic gardens, commercial, industrial and public service areas
  • Tree and vine crops: avocado, banana, citrus, mango, pome fruit, vineyards, nuts, stone fruit and more (APVMA 61850)
  • Pasture: pre-seeding knockdown, topping, conservation tillage
  • Fallow and crop establishment across all major cropping regions
  • Forests, rights-of-way, drains and channels (non-aquatic use only)

Is MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide rainfast?

Rainfastness is approximately 1 hour after application. Delay spraying if weeds are wet with dew or rain, and water runs off when plants are disturbed.

Dry so easy to store. Good on weeds and trees.

Store as dry granules so no leaky messy solutions being stored. Dissolve well. Can make up any strength. Can kill trees if applied to splited stumps or Can be used with tree injectors. So a good general all round weed, bush, tree control. Just try not to spray when rain is expected in the next day or so. If it rains in a day perhaps a little less effective and no one want it washed on to other plants near by.

Superior to liquid product in every way. Safer road delivery and easier to mix, with no spillage. Mixes well with penetrant and fast knockdown on thistles, willows and blackberry. Combines well with Metsulfuron if necessary, and way less expensive than liquid Glyphosate.

Is Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide pet-friendly?

  1. Q Is Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide pet-friendly?
Asked by Shayne on December 22, 2025 1:49 pm
    Answered by the admin

While we would never recommend any pet ingest a chemical such as Glyphosate or come into direct contact with it, Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide would be considered relatively pet-friendly. Glyphosate is poorly absorbed from the digestive tract and is largely excreted unchanged by mammals. Glyphosate has no significant potential to accumulate in animal tissue. Glyphosate is slightly toxic to birds. Regardless of this information from the Safety Data Sheet, the best practice for all herbicides is to ensure that they are not accessible to animals when stored, and when mixing and applying, remove the animals from the area and do not allow them to return until the spray has dried.

Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide is formulated as soluble granules, intended for dilution with water to create a liquid spray solution. Glyphosate, the active ingredient, needs to be absorbed through a plant's leaves and green stems to be effective; therefore, spreading the granules around the plant base would not be effective. For correct application, the granules should be completely dissolved in water according to label directions, then applied as a spray to the foliage of the Lantana per the registered directions for use found on the label. This is also available under the 'SDS & Technical' section of the product page on the Specialist Sales website. Safety and efficacy cannot be guaranteed if applied via an off-label application method.

The registered directions of use for Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide do not provide any recommendations for use in a 'weed wiper. '  However, Rapid Fire 800SG (granular) Glyphosate Herbicide's registered 'directions of use' does provide a mixing rate of 1kg of this product to 5 L of water to prepare a 17% solution to be applied via a weed wiper; as such, we suggest looking at this product.  For further details on weed wipe' application with Rapid Fire 800SG Glyphosate, please refer to this product's 'directions of use'.  Search Rapid Fire 800SG Glyphosate in the search bar at the top of the Specialist Sales website for more information on this product. Please ensure you read the SDS and Label prior to purchase and use to confirm suitability for your situation & follow all manufacturer's guidelines. Both granular and liquid glyphosate herbicides have no best-before or expiry date. The best practice is to use herbicides, including Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide, within approximately 3 - 5 years from the date of manufacture when stored appropriately. For granular products, these must be kept dry, and for all chemicals, the general advice is to keep them out of direct sunlight, sealed in their original packaging, and in a cool and well-ventilated area.  Comparative pricing between granular and liquid glyphosate will vary with each brand and concentration (grams of active per litre). Glyphosate 700 Granular contains 700g/Kg of Glyphosate, present as a mono-ammonium salt, and Glyphosate Green 360 also contains Glyphosate, but it is present as an isopropylamine salt @ 360g/L. Both are non-selective knockdown herbicides; however, Glyphosate Green is also registered for use on aquatic weeds due to its formulation, whereas the mono-ammonium salt of Glyphosate 700 Granular is transferred through the weed faster than traditional liquid concentrate formulas. As such, the best product will vary depending on your situation.

Grazon Extra Herbicide is compatible with various Glyphosate formulations, including Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide. The best practice when mixing the two products would be to adhere to the label rates to control Lantana for each product. Therefore, the Glyphosate would be mixed at 5gm/L (500gm per 100L) and the Grazon at 5mL/L (500mL per 100L). Including a suitable wetting agent (i.e. Consume or Eurochem Penetrant @ 100mL-200mL per 100L) is recommended to guarantee the best kill.

    The  Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide can be mixed directly into a backpack.  Please follow these instructions;

    1. Fill the backpack with one-half the required amount of clean water.
    2. Add the required amount of Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide slowly to ensure that it is well-dispersed throughout the backpack and none collects on the bottom.
    3. Continue water addition and thoroughly agitate until all the Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide is completely dissolved.

Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide does not list stem injection as a suitable unwanted tree control application method.  For trees up to a 10cm diameter, cut stump applications are registered on species such as Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata), Longleaf Box (E.goniocalyx), Marri (E.calophylla), Messmate Stringybark (E. obliqua) and Narrowleaf Peppermint (E. Radiata).  The mixing rate is 1kg per 30L Water (1:30).  You may choose to trial stem injection 'off-label', but the manufacturer does not recommend or guarantee results with this method.

We recommend dedicated stem injection herbicides such as Tordon RegrowthMaster Herbicide or products similar or comparable to the original Tordon DSH Tree Killer (Treeson Herbicide, Shredder Herbicide or Commander Dual Herbicide) to control unwanted trees.

Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide can be used in Banana plantations, but care needs to be taken not to spray or allow spray to drift onto the banana plants as severe death or damage is likely.

When mixed @ 5gm/L Water, each 10kg makes approximately 2000L of glyphosate spray, which should be more than enough to cover 4000m2, but the different application and mixing rates will alter the area covered.

Visible effects on annual weeds take 3-7 days, but on perennial weeds may not be evident for 2-3 weeks or longer in some cases. Visible effects of control may be delayed by cool or cloudy weather at and following treatment.

As with all Glyphosate formulations (liquid and granular), users should avoid skin contact as Glyhphosate will irritate the skin.  Full safety directions are available on the 'directions for use' label and in part direct "when opening the container and preparing the product for use, wear elbow-length PVC gloves and goggles" and "after use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water".

Tips For Use

Restraints:

  • Do not apply to weeds under stress from drought, frost, waterlogging, disease or insect damage
  • Do not apply to weeds growing in or over water
  • Do not spray across open bodies of water
  • Do not treat plants wet with dew or rain if water droplets run off when disturbed
  • Do not disturb treated weeds by cultivation, sowing or grazing for 1 day after treating annual weeds, or 7 days after treating perennial weeds

Mixing Instructions:

  • Half-fill the spray tank with clean water before adding product
  • Add MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 slowly under full agitation at a suggested rate of 10 kg in 2-3 minutes
  • Continue filling and agitating until fully dissolved
  • Do not use water from ponds, unlined ditches, or hard water containing calcium salts, as this may reduce efficacy
  • Do not mix, store or apply in galvanised steel or unlined steel containers. Use stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper, fibreglass or plastic-lined tanks
  • Use the spray solution within 5 days of mixing
  • Additional surfactant is not required, except where the rate is less than 6 g/L by boom. In that case, add Turbo Plus at 100 mL per 100 L water

General Instructions:

  • Apply to broadleaf weeds with at least one true leaf, and to grasses with at least two leaves
  • Rainfastness is approximately 1 hour
  • Cool or cloudy weather may delay visible symptoms
  • MacPherson’s Glyphosate 700 controls emerged weeds only and provides no residual weed control. Repeat treatments may be needed for later germinating weeds

Compatibility:

  • May be tank mixed with many herbicides, insecticides and additives, including atrazine, 2,4-D ester, dicamba, simazine, dimethoate and others. Read and follow all label directions for all tank mix products before use

Protection of Crops, Native and Other Non-Target Plants:

  • Avoid contact with foliage, green stems or fruit of crops, desirable plants and trees. Severe injury or destruction may result
  • Do not apply under conditions or with equipment that may cause spray drift onto nearby susceptible plants, cropping lands or pastures

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans and the Environment:

  • Do not contaminate dams, rivers or streams with the product or used containers
  • Do not apply to weeds growing in or over water
  • Do not spray across open bodies of water

Storage:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight
  • Do not contaminate seed, feed or foodstuff
  • Shake the empty bag into the spray tank before disposal. Puncture or shred and bury empty containers in a local landfill

Safety Directions:

  • Harmful if swallowed
  • Will damage eyes and will irritate skin
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin
  • Wear elbow-length PVC gloves and goggles when opening and preparing the product for use
  • If the product contacts the eyes, wash immediately with water
  • Wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water after use
